Kokoro no Uta 心の詩
The poem of the heart (Kokoro no Uta) means to treat emotions and feelings with a poetic attitude. This work is inspired by the travel diary of the Japanese haiku poet Matsuo Basho. As a meditator, his work has an oriental philosophical enchantment. It is an important feature of oriental poetry to let people feel calm
from the changes in the outside world. However, for the ups and downs of their own emotions, people often find it difficult to accept them calmly. This work transforms the fluctuations of human inner feelings into realistic VR images and attempts to explore the new experience and acceptance of human emotions through the transformation of spatial position.
Producing Process
In order to make people feel the impact of visualized emotions, I decided to use VR as the main visual form. Through the comparison of the "inside" and "outside" perspectives, the audience can feel the impacts of the distance of observing emotions.
INSIDE The inside perspective is designed as a constantly moving cave, and the audience can feel the pressure from the environment through the VR helmet, while eye-catching the flying debris flying around. This environment simulates the state in which people are addicted to their emotions. It is easy for people to fall into a vicious circle because psychological anxiety is not relieved.
OUTSIDE The external perspective allows the audiences to see the changing of the emotion from a distance. When viewed from a certain distance, the same 3D emotion simulation model is more clear and beautiful so that the audiences are able to perceive the impermanence and the certain limitation of emotional fluctuations. This is also an oriental poetic way.
